Soundisciples: Audio Manifesto (Peaceville, 2002)

Think to yourself Pitchshifter if
they sucked. I just can’t bring myself to want to listen to this
CD. Absolutely nothing stands out. It is just too experimental for its
own good. This might have been better had they not put in so many stupid
fucking effects. Not that all effects are bad but they were unnecessary
in this mix. They ruined at least three of the tracks for me. One effect
repeated rarely works for four and a half minutes.
This brings us to the rag on the singer portion of
our show. He sounds like he wants to be Marilyn Manson’s
testicles (either overplayed or neglected) just horrible vocals. At
least Marilyn uses song structures that compliment his “unique”
vocal pattern. Sorry dude, where Im from crap, much like pigs, doesn’t
fly.
Most of the Peaceville records stuff I got was good,
but this just didn’t work for me. There were a couple tracks that
I might listen to again, but overall not something that I want to deal
with on a daily basis. In fact so much so that I would stop listening
to the radio if it played stuff like this all of the time. Wait, it
does and I did.
From what Mistie said, she got the better deal reviewing
Thine. Go buy Thine’s album, In Therapy, instead.
She loaned me Abscess’ Through the Cracks of
Death and that was better than this so try that maybe. I can’t
tell you in good conscience to buy this album. I can, however, tell
you that I wasn’t thrilled.
